Prints and editions
These photographs, and others from the collection, are available for sale and publication. Contact Frédéric Lefebvre to discuss available images and your project.
Reaching out is simple and direct, whether the message concerns a photograph you have seen in the collection, a project you are planning, or a request for information about the landscapes of the northern countries. The work spans far-flung territories, exposed coastlines, and untamed northern land, and enquiries about images are always welcome. Replies tend to be handled personally, which means a little patience is sometimes needed before an answer arrives in your inbox.
Images from the collection are made available for publication and for printed editions, so editors, book designers, and gallery curators can start a conversation about licensing and reproduction. Prints of individual photographs can also be produced, with framing and format discussed as part of the exchange. Because availability changes with the collection and with exhibition schedules, it is best to describe your intended use and to ask what is currently possible.
Behind the images is a practice built on the patient observation of changing light and weather. Photographs were captured on slide film, including Velvia and Provia, with more recent work made using professional digital cameras, and the approach remains rooted in the same idea: wait for the landscape to reveal itself rather than intervene in it. The resulting pictures tend to favour quiet, elemental compositions over spectacle, with the horizon, the sky, and the ground given equal weight.
The northern countries offer a vast and varied playground for landscape photography, from seascapes and weathered shores to interior plains and the northernmost territories visible on the map. Working across borders and seasons allows the series to breathe, with a favourite image often emerging slowly over years. For anyone curious about the photographs themselves, the fastest route is a short note describing what drew your attention and how the images might be used.
Photography without digital manipulation
The photographs were shot on slide film, including Velvia and Provia, and more recently with professional digital cameras, using a tripod and professional lenses. They were not digitally manipulated.
